There have been several studies conducted to test the effectiveness of African mango in weight loss. Results have shown significant improvements in body weight, lowering body fat and reducing waist circumference.

A study conducted in 2005 on 40 obese people aged 18 to 55 who followed no specific diet, took no medication or exercise showed the following:

  • The waist circumference was reduces by 1.2 inches only in 2 weeks, and by 2.4 inches in 4 weeks
  • Hip circumference was cut by 1.1 inches in 2 weeks, and 1.8 inches in 4 weeks
  • The initial T-cholesterol of the test volunteers was on average 215. By the time the treatment was done it was lowered to 130
  • The “good cholesterol” was up from 61.23 to 89.9
  • The “bad cholesterol” was brought down from 121.37 to 66.08

Another study in 2009 in which 102 healthy, overweight and/or obese volunteers, with a BMI of 25 or greater participated. The group was randomly dived into two. The group that was given African Mango achieved the following results:

  • Drop on average 28.16 pounds
